Chromebook Use

Important Update regarding our School’s Chromebook Policy:

This year, students will no longer be assigned personal Chromebooks to take between school and home. Instead, Chromebooks will be available in classrooms for students to use during lessons when needed.

Why are we making this change?

Over the last few years, we've learned a lot—both from research and from our own experience—about how students use technology in school. While giving each student a device was meant to help with learning, we've found that constant access to personal devices isn't always helpful. It can sometimes make it harder for students to stay focused and do their best work.

Here are a few key reasons behind this decision:

  •      Fewer distractions: When students have personal devices all the time, it can be harder to stay focused on learning.

  •      Better academic results: Studies have shown that too much screen time doesn’t always lead to better grades—in some cases, it can make things worse.

  •      More meaningful use of technology: We want students to use technology in a way that truly supports learning, not just because it’s available, but because it makes sense for the lesson.

We are still committed to teaching students how to use technology well. Chromebooks will continue to be used in the classroom for projects, research, and skill-building. We’re simply moving toward a more guided and purposeful use of technology during the school day.

Thank you for your continued support as we make decisions that are best for your children’s learning and well-being.
